Building Lallybroch

A lot of people and work are involved in changing Midhope Castle to Lallybroch, every day during filming they have a morning meeting. Just to make sure everyone knows what to do.

The crew do take over the castle!

It takes around three weeks to turn Midhope Castle into "Lallybroch". Most of what you see on screen is real, designed, built and painted by true craftsman (and woman). There is very little CGI used and it takes this army to pull it off. Our farmyard becomes their city for that time with everything, workshops, food, toilets, costume, make up, production and everything else squeezed into our wee space. Then as if by magic, everything moves on to the next location.
